COLIN MESTON
Focus. Balance. Function. I try to make each piece a learning experience, focus on the craft, and stay simple in the execution. I create functional pieces, but alter them so as to provide an interactive experience through weight, touch, or a feeling. I try to capture movement and energy within each piece. The more present and spontaneous, less controlled and meticulous, helps the pot's individuality come through.
I have been a student of the art of ceramics for over 20 years. I enjoy the experience of throwing, staying present with each piece, and having a creative outlet. As a conservation ecologist, I am inspired by nature and the simplicity of form and function.
