AVA artist-in-residence, Nov 2020 - June 2021
Deanna Antony is a multi-disciplinary artist working in soft sculpture, painting, and drawing. Her work investigates identity and space by exploring palette, form, and playful expression. Over the last number of years she has been dissecting the history of painting and abstraction to the point of building the painting out into three dimensions. She uses found materials, specifically clothing, to communicate and evoke time and place, in direct relationship to the body.
Deanna received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2020, and her BA from the University of Wisconsin-Parkside in 2016. She has exhibited work in Milwaukee and Madison, Wisconsin; and in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
After graduate school, life brought Deanna to the Pacific Northwest, and she lives and works near the ocean.
