I was born in New York City but grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. After graduating from Brookline High School as an art major, I attended Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising.

Like so many others, my life’s journey took me down a wide variety of paths, mine included fashion design, merchandising, teaching art and ceramics in middle schools, writing grants, serving as an administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District at the school and district levels and finally as a self-employed educational consultant working throughout California and neighboring states. I have a master’s degree in secondary education and am a credentialed counselor.

Now retired and splitting time between Oregon and California, I have had the opportunity to return to my first love - art. Over the past 16 years, I have studied with many different artists, but most influential in my development have been Jo Pomeroy-Crockett, Judith Fredrikson, Karen Werner, Fealing Lin, Karlyn Holman and Gerald Brommer, among others.

I am a member of the Associated Artists of the Inland Empire and the Chaffey Community Museum of Art in California. In Oregon, I am a member of the Palette Puddlers of Cannon Beach. I have two brilliant, talented daughters, 3 delightful grandsons and a major set of bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren and two fabulous sons-in-law.-and soon to become a great-grand mother.

Artist statement:
My mother was an artist, and she always encouraged me to draw. All though my grade school and high school years, my teachers supported and praised my artistic endeavors, probably as a way to keep me busy and out of trouble. My favorite media is watercolor and although I will never master it, I am learning to control it. But having said that, I love pen and ink and collage, and a combination of all three and work that incorporates CitraSolv treated papers. You can see many of my pieces at Citrasolv.com where I often place in contests. At my age, I just see something I like and go for it. As my friend Caroline says, “the older you get, the faster you have to paint.” When I find a picture I like to use as a reference, I tend to fall in love with the image and then get involved with the painting. I have learned that when you paint animals, you need to paint in their eyes first, and then they help you finish the painting. Currently, I have become involved with the ancient art of marbling and incorporate some of my papers into my watercolor designs. Additionally, I have been working in Watercolor and Batik.
