GIN LAUGHERY
Studio Gallery
I was drawn to printmaking early in my career as a North Coast Artist. It is my chosen medium to convey both ideas and a personal vision of the world around me.My work has been exhibited throughout the Northwest in both solo and group exhibitions. My work has been juried into the prestigious Au Natural: by Ric Bartow, as well as the Around Oregon Annual at the Arts Center of Corvallis and the Printmakers Hand, held at the Northwind Arts Center in Port Townsend, Washington.
I think of creating monotypes as the physical process of printmaking: inks, brayers, papers, plates and press, combined with observation and memory of place. A meditation of sorts.
Landscapes form the foundation of my art. Renditions of place, some through abstraction, primarily exploring use of stratification, and color satisfy my need to describe the places to which I am connected. A small part of something naturally occurring. Allegiance and affirmation.
My work is in private and public collections throughout the Northwest.
