Artist Bio
I have been carving all my life. The earliest memory I have is trying to carve a chunk of soap stone with a real dull knife thinking to my self that I have a reason to learn about knifes. I now make my own carving tools. Most early works became gifts and a few I still have. As I grew up a trade and other interests took presidents and not until 1994 destiny made a change for me. This change eventually brought me to the world of wood. In wood boat restoration and all its knowledge. In the spring 1996 I moved on a wood boat custom built in 1939 40 foot long and in real need of my need to be productive. In 2010 moved on to live as a landsman and now have a opportunity to carve and create what I feel close to from living among natures gifts on the water and land from the gathered inventory of woods.

Artist Statement
Captain Planks wood works is a independent artist that loves the feel of expression through carving of wood and soap stone and other natural media. The good feeling it brings me is what drives my desire. I do think of what is going to be next in line to produce but the list is long and no end of material to work from so I rely on how it feels to me at the time. I may work on 1 to 6 projects at a time. From back scratchers to live edge end tables to Scot towel hangers, marine and animals also abstract and many more. This is the world of art for me.
