JOHN CLARK - #9
Studio 11
453 11th Street Suite A
glass, sculpture, drawing, intaglio printmaking
website: www.astoriaarts.com/
Handicap accessible
Long a part-time resident of Astoria, John makes prints and drawings based on his perception of childhood memories - one part Catholicism, one part Republican politics, and lots of tales of the Great Depression. He also makes phenomenal metal castings.
John studied painting at Portland State University in the early Seventies. He says he discovered printmaking and thought it was much cooler than painting. He's worked as a printmaker for 32 years and has had to seek employment in the steel trades because, he says, he can't sell his "cruddy art." (To that we say "Hooey! It;s wonderful art and you know it, John!")
