MARGA STANLEY
Art By Marga

My art is my passion. My imagination is where my ideas live ready to pop out at any moment. Some paintings are experiments that have "just" happened...others are planned. I look at each one as a stepping stone to another piece whatever the subject matter may be.

Learning to paint different images with new tools and mediums has been rewarding, not all pieces work out like I planned, some are better and of course some are not, but during the process I learn something, however small, that can move me forward as an artist.

My art training comes from watching and experimenting and then doing it all over again, exposing a little more of me, Marga, with every attempt. While living in the Caribbean, I founded an annual fine arts fair, featuring over 20 very talented and diverse artists. I draw on a regular basis with an exceptional group of local artists and am one of the founding members of Tempo Gallery, an arts collective, in Astoria. My art has been shown in Canada, British West Indies and in the United States, with collectors in New York, New Jersey, Missouri, California, Florida, Washington, Oregon and Canada.

Twice a month, on Thursdays at 8 p.m., I have a radio show called “Marga’s World” on KMUN’s Bedtime Stories. Sometimes, when subject matter isn’t available, I have fun writing my own children’s story and reading it on the air.
