Morrison Pierce has been a painter for the last 25 years, working in various styles and mediums. His work has been exhibited in galleries, museums, and abandoned buildings throughout the US. “Art has been my world for more than 20 years,” he says. “I have founded art collectives, traveled the world visiting premiere art destinations…” In 2017, he flipped a buffalo head nickel and landed in Astoria. Morrison is represented locally by the The Secret Gallery and can be found working on his art everyday at his studio in the Astoria Studio Collective.
Pierce was awarded the Astoria Visual Arts artist-in-residence in 2019 and 2020 and is working on a large body of work for an upcoming show at AVA in October. His work is contemporary, relevant and introspective. He continues to strive to find and make connections between the regional, rural arts community of the North Coast and the world-wide contemporary art scene. Other highlights for Pierce included traveling to Miami for the international art fair, Art Basel, painting alongside contemporary artist Ron English and being featured at the Superchief Gallery in Miami.
